This is the tendency to follow or to imitate the decisions or actions of other people, without considering our own beliefs, values, or interests. For example, if we see that other companies or organizations are hiring candidates with a certain type of experience or skill, we may be more likely to do the same, without considering the specific needs or goals of our own company or organization. The herd behavior bias can cause us to make biased or copycat hiring decisions, and it can lead us to overlook the value of individuality, authenticity, or differentiation in the hiring process.
