The bandwagon effect
This is the tendency to follow the majority or the norm, even if it is not in our best interest or against our own beliefs. For example, if most of our colleagues or competitors are hiring candidates with a certain type of education or experience, we may be more likely to do the same, even if it is not a good fit for the job or the organization. The bandwagon effect can cause us to make conformist or unoriginal hiring decisions, and it can lead us to overlook candidates who may bring unique or valuable perspectives and skills to the job.
