This is the tendency to attribute our own thoughts, feelings, or motivations to other people, and to believe that they think, feel, or act in the same way that we do. For example, if we believe that we are a good listener or communicator, we may be more likely to assume that a candidate who is quiet or reserved is also a poor listener or communicator, without considering their individual differences or experiences. The projection bias can cause us to make biased or unfair judgments about candidates, and it can lead us to overlook the value of empathy, curiosity, or perspective-taking in the hiring process.
